Albert Hall Museum

Albert Hall Museum or the Government Central Museum, Jaipur
The sprawling Ram Niwas Garden plays host to the Albert Hall Museum, which is believed to be one of the oldest Rajasthan museums in the State. It was designed by the architect Colonel Sir Swinton Jacob in 1876 and was opened to the public a decade later. The museum has a variety of rare artefacts and objects on display that include amongst other things, wood crafts, textiles, ceremonial robes of Rajput Kings and Queens, dolls, weapons, arms, and pottery. One of the most popular attractions is a Persian carpet that depicts a garden with running streams. Mirza Raja Jai Singh I bought the carpet from Shah Abbas of Persia, and it cost him the moon in doing so. Other not-to-be-missed attractions are the various paintings that belong to the various sub-schools of painting in Rajasthan.
